LADY MICHAELIS BEQUEST

Until 25 July 2010 - Henry Preiss Hall

A selection of 17th-century Dutch paintings from the Michaelis Bequest is on view. The donation by Lady Michaelis, in the 1930s, of mainly 17th-century Dutch and Flemish paintings initially formed the core of the permanent collection of the Art Museum.

SOUTH AFRICAN ARTWORKS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

Until 25 July 2010 - North Gallery and Alberth Werth Hall

For this exhibition the curators chose some favourite artworks, from works by the old masters to works by more contemporary artists, both well known and less well known.

A STORY OF SOUTH AFRICAN ART

Until December 2010 - South Gallery

A selection of artworks from the permanent collection tells a brief story of South African art from the time of the first San artists. This selection includes the works of early 20th century painters, Resistance artists of the 1980s and artists of the 21st century.

INTIMATE SCENES

Until 30 May 2010 - East Gallery

For this exhibition, artworks have been selected from the Pretoria Art Museum's permanent international printmaking collection. Interior and still life scenes are found to be a popular theme for printmaking techniques. This selection includes the works of well-known 20th century artists like Pablo Picasso and Rene Magritte.
